Bolton, ON, Canada, April 23, 2008 – Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. celebrated Earth Day by committing to reduce electricity use through the EnerShift™ Demand Response (DR) Program. EnerShift™ is an energy management initiative implemented by Rodan Energy and Metering Solutions Inc. that is designed to provide large energy users the opportunity to secure Ontario’s electricity supply and reduce their environmental footprint. For Husky this will mean reducing its power usage in order to assist when provincial electricity demand exceeds supply. To accommodate this reduction, Husky will temporarily reduce its electricity consumption for non-essential activities.
Rodan’s EnerShift program engages businesses to curtail electricity use during high power demand when the province’s electricity system is strained. DR provides a clean alternative to bringing additional generation resources online to meet peak demand which is no more than a hundred hours a year. By minimizing the need for additional generation to meet Ontario’s growing demand, DR participants are helping to phase-out Ontario’s coal-power generation plants.
