Mississauga, ON, Canada, January 25, 2007 - Rodan Energy & Metering Solutions has been engaged as part of IBM’s team to develop and operate the Ontario Meter Data Management/Repository (MDM/R) The IBM team selected by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) includes the industry leading services and technologies of eMeter Corporation, Enspiria Solutions, and Rodan.
An important step forward for the Smart Meter Initiative, the MDM/R will provide meter data management services to enable small business and residential consumers to control their energy costs and enhance system reliability. When fully operational the system will collect hourly interval data from the province’s local distribution companies and provide validation and processing of meter reads.
“The Smart Meter Initiative can increase system reliability by giving the consumer the power to make a difference. Timely access to information about their electricity use and prices provides the consumer an incentive to better manage electricity usage” said Paul Murphy, IESO President and CEO. “As part of the MDM/R team, Rodan is contributing to the framework that will expand the opportunities for conservation and demand response to home owners and small business.”
“We are pleased to be able to provide technical support and market insights to IBM, the IESO and Ontario’s electricity distribution companies in developing the MDM/R”, commented Paul Grod, President of Rodan Energy & Metering Solutions. “This system is a critical component of the Smart Meter Initiative and Rodan is committed to working with IBM and the IESO to ensure its timely and efficient implementation.”
