Rodan Energy is the largest independent Metering Services Provider (MSP) by number of clients, meter points, staff and geographic coverage. We have installed metering and telemetry systems for the vast majority of market participants in Ontario, and are licensed by the Independent Electricity System Operator.

Metering Registration and Market Entry
Rodan interacts directly with the IESO and the transmission company for the submission and approval of all registration documents. We prepare the following registration documents for each meter point:

Metering Panel and IT Fabrication
Our technicians design and fabricate a wide variety of IESO and Measurement Canada compliant (indoor and outdoor) metering panels and instrument transformer arrangements (polemount and padmount) for a variety of metering applications. We also fabricate operational equipment according to IESO and Hydro One requirements, including isolators, communications and telemetry. This includes associated wiring diagrams, ESA inspection and engineering approvals for its fabricated equipment, including rigorous quality assurance testing.

Site Installation, Inspection, Testing and Commissioning
(Revenue Metering and Operational Systems)
Our metering specialists and field technicians have installed hundreds of whole revenue metering installations. They have significant experience working within Transmission and Distribution Stations and working with Hydro One and IESO operational requirements.

MSP On-going Maintenance
Licensed as a metering services provider (MSP) by the IESO, we have ongoing responsibility for site monitoring and troubleshooting for client registered sites including:

• Monitoring trouble calls relating to metering installations and metering data including maintaining and operating a trouble call service to promptly respond to all trouble calls issued by the IESO
  
  
• Maintaining records of all inspections, tests, audits and activities that may affect the collection, security or accuracy of metering data and provide these records to the IESO
  
  
• Maintaining a database to manage installation and maintenance activities at metering points, including monitoring and notification of meter seal expiry
  
  
• Ensuring that information submitted to the IESO in support of a request for an adjustment to metering data is correct, accurate and auditable;
  
  
• Ensuring that all portable testing equipment is fit for its intended purpose and calibrated with devices traceable to federal measurement standards so as to create an audit trail for calibration.

Emergency Restoration Planning
We maintain an appropriate stock of spare equipment, including meters, modems, cabinets, test blocks, meter bases, I/O expanders and other related equipment. In addition, we will also maintain specialized metering equipment as required for IESO approved Emergency Instrument Transformer Restoration Plans.
