Niagara Falls, ON, Canada, Sept 13, 2006 - Rodan Energy and Metering Solutions Inc. was recognized by the Ontario Power Authority at the Annual Conference of the Ontario Energy Association in Niagara Falls for its contribution in delivery demand response in Ontario. Rodan Energy was recently contracted by the Ontario Power Authority as the demand response provider for the York Region Demand Response Program.
In a speech to delegates, Jan Carr, Chief Executive Officer of the OPA, singled out Rodan Energy for its work in the implementation of the York Region DR Program. Demonstrating the OPA’s commitment to integrating Demand-Side Management as critical component of Ontario’s Power Supply Mix, Mr Carr highlighted Rodan Energy’s role in addressing electricity system “concerns in high growth areas where supply constraints had become a serious issue.”
Designed to curtail electricity use among large industrial, commercial and institutional consumers during times of peak demand, Rodan has actively engaged some of the region’s largest energy users, including Magna International, Royal Group Technologies, Quebecor, the Region of York, the Town of Aurora and others.
“Demand response is a critical component of any electricity system operation as it enhances efficiency and reduces the need for building new peaking generation and transmission assets,” said Larry Herod, Energy Resource Manager, Royal Group Technologies. “Royal congratulates Rodan Energy on their hard work in making this program a reality and is proud to participate in one of the OPA’s first demand response programs.”
