Newmarket, ON, Canada, August 16th, 2006 - Rodan Energy launched its York Region Demand Response program with the theme “Putting Power Back in Your Community”. Under contract with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA). Rodan Energy is engaging large energy consumers to participate in electricity demand response to enhance system reliability in a region that faces serious supply constraints.

Keynote Speak Peter Love, Ontario’s Chief Energy Conservation Officer was on hand to address the critical need for demand response programs in Ontario’s Supply Mix.

Rodan’s York DR Program actively works with the local distributors in the area (Newmarket Hydro, Powerstream, Barrie Hydro and Hydro One) to deliver demand response solutions that address the need for increased system reliability in Northern York Region.

With the Armitage Transformer Station as the backdrop,
Paul Ferguson (President, Newmarket Hydro) addresses the group.

By implementing a demand response program we will be able to help mitigate the capacity limitations we are nearing especially during the hot summer months and deliver immediate bottom-line benefits to end-use customers while helping to create a more reliable electricity system.”

Also in attendance were current program participants (Magna International, Royal Group Technologies and Quebecor World among others) and local dignitaries.
